The Louisiana Space Consortium (LaSPACE) is a group of seventeen institutions of higher education from throughout the State of Louisiana that have banded together to strengthen aerospace research and education within the state. Aerospace is one of the growth areas nationally, and Louisiana can make a major contribution to this emerging "frontier" of exploration and development. The issue of critical importance is the training of the next generation of aerospace scientists and engineers. This is a multi-faceted problem which involves college and university level research and teaching, pre-college teacher education and student exposure, and public understanding of aerospace science and technology. LaSPACE was formed to address these questions and to coordinate activities both among member institutions and with state government and the private sector.
