|Brief Description of the Physics Department|
The Department offers a program for majors in physics which requires a minimum of forty-two credit hours in physics. The details of the program are usually developed according to the career interests of the students in consultation with the departmental advisor. A minimum three-semester sequence in calculus is suggested. Before graduation, majors must pass a comprehensive, departmental examination. The examination is given each semester for seniors, and may be repeated.
All majors must take Physics 271, 311, 341-342, 345, 416-417, 425 and 435. The minor in physics requires at least eighteen hours and must include Physics 221-222, or 251-252, 271, 341, and 342.
