Ph.D in Science/Mathematics Education
Southern University A&M College Baton Rouge,
Louisiana, has completed the initial planning for the Ph.D. in Science/Mathematics
Education Degree Program described on this web page. It is awaiting the
final review of the proposal and strategic plan, for the program, by the
Louisiana Board of Regents. We expect final approval of the program by
the Regents in the Fall of 1997. The first graduate students, if approval
is granted, are expected to enroll no later than the Fall of 1998. A national
advisory committee is to assist the program in establishing or enhancing
relationships with governmental, private and university research organizations
and agencies across the nation. Special emphasis will be placed on highly
productive (research publication and graduate training wise) partnerships with systemic educational reform and teacher
preparation programs.
